I really like DIY projects. This is not the only reason why i usually have running multiple projects in parallel. In every project, there are phases which aren't too interesting, or where you have some kind of blocked mind, don't get the right idea. I don't think that it is a good idea to enforce completion of the project when the flow of ideas is missing, as the result might be frustration, which can destroy the fun of DIY.
Usually, nobody pushes you to complete your project, it it's just a hobby. So if i don't have the flow to complete a project (usually, it's during firmware development :), i sometimes just do nothing in the technical areas, maybe i clean up the home, throw out old stuff to online auctions, visit friends, sit around in the sun, play some games on my console, whatever.
But then there are moments, where i have a flow in a completely different area. By the time of this writing, i don't have good ideas how to continue with the user interface of the PMVC, but i have some ideas about a monophonic synthesizer, somewhat modular, and learning some stuff in deeper detail - while trying to write all the knowledge down here on my website for the other DIY friends to participate in this wonderful hobby.
So the following projects often are not completed and so are sorted by their beginning, not the completion.
13-Feb-2006, MiK-one started as my first DIY project, soon after i repaired the SCI MultiTrak and found my desire for analog synthesizers.
March-2007, PMVC was started after the idea to create a standalone unit of the computer control of the MiK-one was pushed by some SynthesizerForum members.
19-Apr-2007, the WaveBender was a quick idea of a simple, but powerful distortion concept, which was created during thinking about a new waveshaper.
19-Aug-2007, the first module of the MicroModules collection was built, a growing collection of functional units intended to be used on the breadboard.
22-Aug-2007, the Intubator was started after playing around with electron tubes since 03-Aug-2007.
13-Jan-2008, the TransMeter was started as a transistor meter to gather base-emitter voltage and current amplification of bipolar transistors to collect matched pairs often needed in DIY modules.
18-Mar-2008, MVClite started as a small project, as i needed some simple MIDI-CV interface for the development lab. Took about a month for a first usable version.
26-Mar-2008, the GTC started as the quickest of all projects for now (completed 30-Mar-2008), a friend needed something to improve the reliability of his trigger/gate signals and i created this little project - the first real custom-build :)
09-May-2008, i need to build another synthesizer :) To enhance the practice and knowledge i gained over the time, i started the MonoMiK.
